A Court of Thorns and Roses

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a book series of the incredible writer Sarah J. Maas. The fairytale Beauty and the Beast was her inspiration for writing this book.

Feyre is a nineteen-year-old girl who lives in the forest with her father and two sisters. To survive, Feyre hunts on animals to provide herself and her family with food. Then one day she sees a deer, but a wolf has also its eyes on that animal. In order to ‘win’ her prey, she has to kill the wolf. And so, she did. But little did Feyre know that the wolf was not just a wolf. It was a Fae. And back when she was home, a beast came to her house. Telling her she needs to pay the price for killing his friend. Thus, the beast took her to his magical home Prythian. Feyre discovers secrets, goes on a dangerous adventure and falls in love.

The world Prythian has several courts and Sarah introduces all of them to her readers. She takes you out of reality and brings you to a whole different world. A world full of magic, beauty and Fae. Everything is so well described; you can almost say that Prythian really does exist. The story is very thought out and I think Sarah did a wonderful job. I also really like how Sarah lets you believe that Tamlin is a good guy, when he is actually not. And how Feyre meets this handsome Fae named Rhysand, not knowing that he is her mate, while Rhysand already knew it from the moment he laid his eyes on her. Everything that happens, make sense when you read further into the book; all pieces fall into place. All the outcomes made the book more amazing than it already was.

I think it’s amazing how Sarah could describe each character so well from only Feyre her point of view. I have read books where a character’s personality is very similar to other characters in the same book, but in this book each character is different and has its own personality. Also, Sarah is really letting you get to know the characters, and because you know them you feel certain emotions for them such as love, hate or pity.

Up until now there are three books from the Court of Thorns and Roses series. And I must say, the first book was great, the second book was greater, and the third book was the greatest. I give this series all stars! The plot is so well put together, a lot happens so it never gets you bored. It is a book you want to pick up again. A world you want to go back to. At this moment Sarah is busy writing the fourth book of the series, so I am very excited and curious how the fourth part will turn out!
